News & events

There is a group for younger and older young people 9 - 13 year olds, called GAP. For young people over the age of 13 there is a group called NEXT. Generally in term time, these groups meet on a Saturday evening on a fortnightly basis for activities such as bowling, badminton and DVD evenings. Each year we usually have a joint barbeque in the summer and other special events are arranged from time to time.

Once a month following the evening service, the young people meet for a time of discussion and Bible study. All our Youth Group leaders are CRB cleared.

Coming and recent activities:

Installation of Rev Chris Kavanagh as associate minister

Rev Chris Kavanagh was called in February, 2008 by the congregation to be associate minister, having been called by the session to be assistant minister, in 2005. The installation service was on Saturday 10th May, 2008, in Hall Street Methodist church, Chelmsford and was lead by Rev Dr John Scott. The sermon preached on the ocasion is available from the sermon page of the website.

Visit by young people from the Reformed Church of Leens

Over the week-end of 21st and 22nd June, CPC Hall Street hosted a visit from seven young members of the congregation of the Reformed Church of Leens, a village in the north of the Netherlands. They were accompanied by the minister of the church, Rev Enno Meijer, who preached at a service at CPC in the evening of Sunday 22nd June, the service being modelled for the evening on a typical Reformed Church service. On Saturady, the group went to London, in the early part of the day, and came to the church barbeque in the evening, along with nearly 100 others, from the congregation and friends of the congregation. Our friendship with our sister church in Leens makes us realise that our faith in Christ is international, and we can express our faith together in concrete ways. We are "together in the Name of Jesus". Please see here for a photograph of the congregation with the folk from Leens, outside of the church on Sunday evening.View photograph here
